What a week!
Thanksgiving break was a much needed breather, and I’m sure a lot of people on campus would agree with me there. It was great being able to just relax and not do a single thing, as well as see all of my family and friends! I unfortunately wasn’t able to take the entire week off due to work obligations, but I still got a nice break with the days surrounding Thanksgiving.
After a two and a half hour long drive on Wednesday, and then waiting until my parents got off work, I was able to see them as well as my siblings! I got home a little earlier than I needed to, not realizing that my parents would be at work and my siblings were with my grandma. So I spent that time with my cousin! We went to the grocery store and grabbed some ingredients to make some pumpkin drop cookies and, per my mothers request, pumpkin cheesecake balls to take to our Thanksgiving dinner. By the time we got back from the store I of course forgot one ingredient and we had to run back.
But then when we finally got back, my parents and little siblings were finally home! We then spent all evening baking, my feet tired from standing all evening, and a few cookies missing thanks to my family. I wish I had taken a picture but I promise, they were delicious!
Thanksgiving day itself went amazingly. I spent the first half of the day with my boyfriend and his family in Pennsylvania, and then the last half of the day with my family and my boyfriend tagging along with me! I absolutely ate way too much, but it was all well worth being able to spend time with the people I love most. This is also the time of year where I really wish I had the ability to teleport. The other half of my family all live in North Carolina, a few members in Texas, some in California, a couple in Michigan, and it would have been wonderful to be able to see all of them too. The curse of having a big family, but it’s all well worth it as long as everyone is happy and comfortable!
The following day after Thanksgiving I went with my two aunts and respective cousins to Amish Country and spent the day perusing little Christmas shops, having lunch at Der Dutchman, and visiting Heini’s Cheese Market, then just relaxing on the couch the rest of the evening. On Saturday, I met my cousin at David’s Bridal to see her shop for her wedding dress! After trying on quite a few beautiful dresses, I think she found her pick. They didn’t have her size in the store, but that was a quick fix as they could easily order it for her online and have it delivered to the store soon! Now we’ll just have to find a veil and various accessories for her special day!
All in all though, Thanksgiving break went great and I’m just glad to have had a breather right before finals begin and I hope everyone else had a great time as well. I’m going to add a picture that shows how excited my mom is for Christmas.

I can wholeheartedly agree with the much needed break, from school work to getting a break from my roommates, I much appreciated it. Sounds like you also had a great break and a change to take a literal "break" from the school work and do some fun activities.
ReplyDeleteThis break was definitely much need for everyone but it sounds like yours was a lot of fun! Those pumpkin cookies and cheesecake balls also sound delicious.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Thanksgiving break was much needed. It sounded like you were able to relax and have some fun, which is what breaks are all about!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a very eventful Thanksgiving break! I also packed mine full of things to do while I was home. And I completely understand eating wayyy to much on Thanksgiving. I had a stomachache for hours after, but it was so worth it.
