Simternship with Buhi

Throughout the semester I’ve been working on this simulation program through the online book on Stukent. This simulation is supposed to simulate an internship as a social media marketing intern working with the company Buhi.

To be honest, it was a lot harder than I anticipated it would be! Figuring out what to post and when was the easy part, but actually trying to gain revenue from it was more difficult. I liked that it gave us so many resources to use to help us out, but all in all it really was up to you to figure out exactly how to make the best of what you had! I had some doubts in the beginning of starting this simternship but throughout the semester it has been a great learning experience! With having a little bit of experience creating content for branded social media channels, it was difficult to switch my brain around and work with a completely different brand that had a different tone of voice, content created, and things to actually sell. I’m so used to just trying to make a cute video or picture to post that it was really difficult to turn on a sales approach to it. It was a nice change of pace to learn how to create brand specific content, drive awareness, increase engagement, increase conversions, drive website traffic, and increase click through rates. Managing social media content in general is a lot more work than other people would usually give credit for, and I think it really helps put into perspective what goes on behind the scenes.

Even though it was a little frustrating when I couldn’t drive conversion rates and really make revenue on the posts, I would still recommend this simternship for future use in the classroom. It didn’t ever take a whole lot of time out of my day, and sometimes it was a fun change from the regular type of homework you would usually get assigned.
