Just like all of the other social media platforms of course you can market and advertise on YouTube as well! YouTube has a large customer base that you could reach out to, with over 2.49 billion active monthly users. YouTube is where you can find videos of all sorts of things. With it being the second biggest search engine, you can find just about anything you’re looking for. YouTube offers categories like music, comedy, informational, beauty, fitness, podcasts, vlogs, and many more. And with a platform like that, you can market towards just about anyone as well.
Video marketing has taken the world by storm, with eighty-one percent of businesses using video in their marketing strategies and 93% of those businesses gain a customer after publishing a video on social media. With YouTube being at the forefront of this new era in marketing, brands are actively creating made-for-YouTube top-quality video content, and running video ads. Around 90% of the world's top 500 brands have at least one active YouTube channel.
YouTube is also a large place for video product reviews, with over 70% of viewers saying they feel more confident about a purchase they made after watching a video about that product first. This is a great way for a lot of companies to get their products seen and reviewed by getting influencers to show off their products to consumers.
And of course, when you watch a video on YouTube, there are typically advertisements placed before, during, or after the video being watched. These advertisements are usually geared towards the user watching, using an algorithm to bring forward certain products that the user may be interested in based on the past videos they’ve watched or are currently watching. I know that I personally have come across these ads, with some being skippable and some not. This can be a little annoying at times, but usually the unskippable ads are relatively really short.
