My Favorite Hobby
I haven’t really had anything exciting going on this past week to really post about. I had originally planned to make some pumpkin drop cookies but that kind of fell through(I’ll still make them at some point if I get time). Instead I think I will be talking about my absolute favorite hobby, photography!
To start, I absolutely love taking pictures. My grandfather used to take pictures as a hobby and I always thought his camera looked so cool, and he used to have some of his pictures hanging up from when he would go out on his hikes. When he passed away, I got to pick up his camera and explore the world through a new lens. A camera lens! It was my first professional camera and it sparked a new interest in me that has now been going on for about six years. I'm no professional photographer by any means, but that does not stop me.
I took one photography class in highschool(it was torture) but besides that I am mostly self taught. Throughout those six years though, I have learned so much about photography, cameras, camera settings, etc. I’ve even picked up videography as well! My first year at ONU I worked in the IT building as a multimedia assistant and that was where I was taught videography, and learned I had a knack for that as well! Then me and my team switched over to the communications and marketing department after that first year and I have been working with them making and creating social media content for ONU’s socials ever since! Not only that, but I used to work as a sports photographer for a few years as well with ONU. I unfortunately just don’t have that much time on my hands anymore for sports photography.
I’ll put some pictures down below, there will be quite a few so I hope you don’t mind!
Throughout the years it’s taken me to learn photography and really get into it, I’ve taken thousands of photos. Don’t even ask me to pick a favorite because there is no way I’d be able to pick just one! My instagram handle is s.mckenzie.photos if you’re interested. Here’s a link as well: https://www.instagram.com/s.mckenzie.photos?igsh=MWw2bnV2dXZsdmRpcg%3D%3D&utm_source=qr

These pictures are amazing! I work in the Sports Information Department at ONU, so I know some of the people that take pictures and I never knew how much actually went into it. There are so many settings that you need to be able to change, especially for evening games when it starts bright and gets dark when the sun goes down. I'm sure it took a lot of time to get it down!
ReplyDeleteFirst off, you are an incredible photographer. I think that these pictures are so cool and I even recognize some of my friends in them! I took a photography class in high school and never got over it. Many people may not know the time, effort, and knowledge you need to capture shots like these. I look forward to seeing more of your work!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures included in the blog! As a car enthusiast I especially like the car photos. I always wanted to get into videography/media as a kid but never took the time to learn the skill, but seems you have found a hobby for life!
